CanPowerSkate’s Pre-Power program is designed for skaters approximately 5 – 8 years of age who have passed the CanSkate program and are looking for an alternative to figure skating or those skaters who want to further develop hockey/ringette skating skills. Pre-Power helps develop basic skating abilities in a power skating–specific environment, including balance skills, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, and agility skills. The curriculum is presented in three progressive levels, complete with awards to encourage participation and motivate skaters.
CanPowerSkate is designed for skaters approximately 9 – 12 years of age or those skaters who have passed the Pre-Power levels or have been evaluated by a skating coach. It is an action-packed, high-energy instructional power skating program focusing on balance, power, agility, speed, and endurance. Skills, techniques, and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations. A unique skill award program provides
incentives and motivation for skaters to continue to achieve.
For safety reasons, participants should wear full hockey/ringette equipment that is CSA approved.
